Following Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) is essential for food bloggers looking to build a strong online presence.
A well-rounded, detailed bio can make or break your credibility with your audience and Google.
But, it’s not always as straightforward as “start here, end here.” And if you’re like me, it’s challenging to talk about yourself in so much detail because we’ve been taught not to sound braggy.
But here’s the thing: being transparent about your expertise and experience isn’t bragging—it’s providing valuable context that helps your readers trust your content. Think of it as giving your audience the information they need to make informed decisions about whose advice they follow.
At the end of all of these prompts, there’s a sample bio with placeholders that you can replace with your own words. This bio will not be nearly as detailed as you could make it, so keep zhuzhing it up, and eventually, it will come together.
And most importantly, let your personality shine! If your bio sounds as stiff as Agnes from Despicable Me reciting those robotic lines in the play—“she kisses my boo-boos, she braids my hair, we love you mothers…everywhere…”—then it’s time to start over.
So, let’s get to bragging about ourselves!

“I specialize in quick and easy plant-based meals that don’t compromise on flavor. As a longtime vegan home cook, I love crafting recipes that make plant-based eating accessible for everyone.”
💡 Example:
“I specialize in authentic Italian home cooking, drawing from my experience growing up in a Sicilian family where every meal was made from scratch. My blog is dedicated to preserving traditional flavors with a modern twist.”
💡 Example:
“My journey into food blogging started when I discovered I had celiac disease. What began as a necessity became a passion as I learned to recreate my favorite comfort foods without gluten. Now I help others navigate their dietary restrictions while still enjoying delicious meals.”
2. Highlight Your Personal Journey (E-E)
📌 Prompt:
- What inspired you to start cooking/blogging?
- Do you have any personal experiences related to food that shaped your passion?
- What’s a defining moment that made you take food blogging seriously?
- What’s your favorite dish to make and why?
- What’s one tip you always give home cooks?
- What’s a fun fact about your cooking journey?
💡 Example:
“My love for food started in my grandmother’s kitchen, where I learned the art of homemade pasta by hand. Years later, I turned that passion into a blog, sharing old-world Italian recipes with a new generation.”
💡 Example:
“My journey to becoming a food blogger started with a failed attempt at making my mom’s famous chocolate chip cookies. There was flour everywhere and dough on the ceiling (I still don’t know how that happened). That disaster sparked a determination to master baking, leading me to spend countless hours experimenting in the kitchen. Now, I help other homebakers avoid the same mistakes while creating their own delicious memories.”
3. Credentials & Recognition (A – Authoritativeness)
📌 Prompt:
- Do you have formal culinary training? (If yes, where?)
- Have you worked in a restaurant, bakery, or food industry role?
- Have your recipes been featured in major publications (e.g., Bon Appétit, The Kitchn, Food & Wine)?
- Have you won any cooking competitions or awards?
- Have you written a cookbook or contributed to any well-known food-related projects?
- Have you collaborated with any notable brands or chefs?
💡 Example (With Credentials):
“With a degree in Pastry Arts from Le Cordon Bleu and years of experience as a pastry chef, I bring a professional touch to home baking. My work has been featured in Food & Wine, and I’ve collaborated with brands like Williams Sonoma and KitchenAid.”
💡 Example (Without Formal Training):
“Though I’m a self-taught baker, I’ve spent over a decade testing and perfecting recipes to help home cooks master the art of bread-making. My recipes have been featured on major food websites like The Kitchn and Epicurious.”
4. Build Trust & Transparency (T – Trustworthiness)
📌 Prompt:
- What’s your philosophy on food and cooking?
- How do you test and ensure the reliability of your recipes?
- How do you engage with and support your readers?
- What makes your content a trustworthy source for home cooks?
💡 Example:
“I believe in using simple, wholesome ingredients to create bold flavors. Every recipe on my blog is tested multiple times to guarantee success, and I personally respond to reader questions to ensure they get the best results in their own kitchens.”
5. Acknowledge the Limits of Your Expertise
📌 Prompt:
- Do you provide nutritional advice? If so, do you have credentials to support it?
- If you are not a dietitian or nutritionist, how do you approach health-related topics responsibly?
- Don’t make health claims if you don’t have the credentials! It’s also important to note there are big differences between health facts and health claims.
- Example – “Spinach contains iron” is a health fact.
- Keep it at that. Don’t elaborate on iron’s effects on the body—if you don’t have the credentials, avoid making those claims.
- Example – “Eating spinach will boost your energy levels” is a health claim.
- If you’re not a licensed nutritionist or dietician, avoid these statements like the plague or kiss your Google search traffic “bye-bye.”
- How do you ensure dietary restrictions or substitutions are accurate?
💡 Example (For Non-Nutritionists):
“While I share plant-based recipes, I am not a registered dietitian. My focus is on creating delicious, balanced meals, and I encourage readers to consult a professional for personalized nutrition advice.”
💡 Example (For Nutritionists/Dietitians):
“As a registered dietitian, I specialize in gluten-free meal planning. My recipes are designed to be both nutritious and delicious, backed by science and tested for real-life practicality.”
